Our Slimline Core Design makes Keypro
unique. KeyPro is entering the keyboard market with
three products. Each of these products are based on
KeyPro's Slimline core design. Integral and unique to
the Slimline design are the key bearing, rubber spring
or dome, and housing silo.
The Slimline design incorporates the
following features into an attractive and versatile
keyboard:
Reduced Profile
With a minimum enclosure thickness of
less than 0.45 inches (11.5 mm), the Slimline design
maintains a full key travel of a minimum of 0.15 inch
(3.8 mm), and utilizes a metal base plate. This provides
the keyboard user with the feel of a full-size keyboard
without the size, yet maintains a solid feel and
provides added structural stability. Flat or Curved
Housing Curved key arrays can be accommodated within the
same profile thickness. The housing strip design allows
low row angles of 5 degrees per row. This greatly
reduces tooling costs associated with curved designs.
Modular Approach
Slimline's modular design lowers overall
tooling and production costs by allowing standardized
components, such as keytop/bearing, rubber dome, and
housing strips to be used without custom-designed
plastic tooling for unique key arrays.
The modular approach allows for profitable, low volume
production of about 1,700 to 3000 units using hard
tooling for the custom enclosure cover and base.
Additional cost savings are available for other custom,
modular components using soft tooling at these
production levels. If the product then advances in
monthly volumes, high volume tooling can be made without
affecting the fit, form or function of the product, and
still utilize the existing base and cover tooling.
Membrane/Tactile Dome Technology
Slimline is a standard 3-layer membrane,
silicone-dome design. This design is recognized as the
industry standard for full-travel desktop keyboard
products. With a minimum mechanical life of 10 million
cycles and a force deflection specification that meets
all international standards for input devices, Slimline
is comparable with leading mass-produced, full-travel
keyboards available today.
RF Wireless Interface Technology
The RF protocol KeyPro has designed will
be offered in 4 distinct variations all having their own
features, depending on the cost required for the
individual product. These interface protocols will also
be developed for other wireless applications, such as
wireless printer/monitor interfaces, allowing for
complete remote use of a PC system.
